About Us

About the Victorian Brass Bedstead Company

We believe purchasing a bed to be a very personal experience, we welcome a visit from you, although catalogues and the powerful graphics on a website give fairly accurate descriptions “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”.

Please contact us to make an appointment. We can supply detailed photographs of the beds on display, but your involvement is very important. We have over 40 years of experience and have sold hundreds of beds to suit all tastes and styles. The vast majority of our beds are antique but we do offer some bespoke lines which can be seen in our showroom. We also offer a restoration service. We have a foundry and workshop and can restore damaged beds to their original condition.

Based in the heart of West Sussex, The Victorian Brass Bedstead Company restore bedsteads to their original glory. Most of these date from 1870 to 1925 and are sourced from all over the world, although originally manufactured in the Midlands.  Each one is an original, unique piece.

The Victorian Brass Bedstead Company mainly deals in original bedsteads and offers a comprehensive restoration service. Whether you have found a bedstead from our vast stock or have an existing bedstead that requires refurbishment we can assist.

  • We’re absolutely delighted with the service and technical advice we received to restore our Victorian ‘Harrods’ bed. We were really impressed by the wide selection of very beautiful bedsteads for sale. This is a unique company offering a service you won’t get on the high street.
    Martin and Beccy Green, Hove
  • "I am delighted with my restored bedframe. I’ve used it for 20 years with bits of brass missing and dented and it is a real joy to have it restored in such a sympathetic way. I loved visiting Dan’s showroom in Sussex and could have spent an hour or two looking through his stock of beds – but I don’t need another one! Dan has good stocks of parts to replace missing knobs etc. and the paintwork to the iron part if beautifully done.. Dan recommended Phil the courier to deliver and return my finished bed frame and that too was a really excellent service. Dan has been a pleasure to deal with."

  • Over the years we have bought quite a few lovely old brass and iron beds from your company for our properties.    You have also brilliantly repaired, modified and improved various junk shop finds for us.  Nothing is ever too much trouble and nothing seems to be beyond your capabilities. • “Liz and I wanted to write to you to say how delighted we were with the bed you sold to us recently. We really enjoyed the day we visited your amazing barn to look at all of the beds and were amazed to find that we both agreed on the same bed within minutes of arriving but Liz still insisted on looking at the entire stock. You had all the answers in terms of sprung bed bases and mattresses and also fitted the old fashioned casters we wanted . We are delighted with the bed and your excellent service and will recommend you to all our friends”
