About the Victorian Brass Bedstead Company

We believe purchasing a bed to be a very personal experience, we welcome a visit from you, although catalogues and the powerful graphics on a website give fairly accurate descriptions “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”.

Please contact us to make an appointment. We can supply detailed photographs of the beds on display, but your involvement is very important. We have over 40 years of experience and have sold hundreds of beds to suit all tastes and styles. The vast majority of our beds are antique but we do offer some bespoke lines which can be seen in our showroom. We also offer a restoration service. We have a foundry and workshop and can restore damaged beds to their original condition.

Based in the heart of West Sussex, The Victorian Brass Bedstead Company restore bedsteads to their original glory. Most of these date from 1870 to 1925 and are sourced from all over the world, although originally manufactured in the Midlands.  Each one is an original, unique piece.

The Victorian Brass Bedstead Company mainly deals in original bedsteads and offers a comprehensive restoration service. Whether you have found a bedstead from our vast stock or have an existing bedstead that requires refurbishment we can assist.

What Our Customers Say

  • Wow, Dan, that is so beautiful. Thank you so much. You’ve done a brilliant job. I showed my Mum your photo of the refurbished bed - the bed belonged to her grandparents originally - and she exclaimed ‘it never looked as good as that in my lifetime!!’ We’re all so pleased with your work, thank you again.

  • Having had time to sleep this week in my newly renovated bed, I just wanted to say: Having been initially distraught over the damage caused to our victorian brass bed during our recent house move, what a fantastic job you have done in repairing it! The 2 replacement knuckles to the side irons are a lovely tight fit, and the bed now sits squarer than before and properly upright.  Now you have gone over our bed with a fine toothed comb, all sections are now secure, every bedknob tightened, and the bed looks and feels wonderful to be in again! We are very, very happy with your work and considering we have owned our bed since 1987, wish we had contacted you sooner for the renovation work. I will recommend you to anyone seeking repair or renovation to their antique bed. Great job, Dan!

  • “Dan and the team at Victorian Brass Beds were fantastic. I am so happy with the results, it is better than I ever could of imagined. They kept me updated all the way through the process explaining the various opinions available and gave me a  cost of each option too. I used a courier service to get it to and from them which they recommended and that was fantastic too, so easy I purchased my bed off facebook marketplace for £100, it was in a sorry state, now I have a stunning piece of furniture which is actually worth something. I would thoroughly recommend.” Edward  Nichols

  • “We decided to take our beloved brass and iron bed down to Sussex and meet up with Toria and Dan and we were able to see the high quality of restoration they perform on old and tired beds.
Within a few minutes Dan was able to give us an estimate on the work he would suggest he do on our bed, we also had a tight timeline to have it finished which Dan kindly took in his stride. When the bed was delivered back to us we were delighted with the detail and craftsmanship. If anyone has a brass and iron bed requiring some love and attention, Dan and Toria at The Victorian Brass Bed Company are the people to contact”

  •  "Many thanks, Dan. I’m thrilled with the bed and all your work in restoring it so beautifully. The colour is perfect and I don’t ever remember the brass being so shiny! Appreciate the way you always advised me without pushing and replied to emails so speedily. It felt like I was talking to you face to face. I was nervous sending you a bed of such sentimental value, but I needn’t have worried. I now know it couldn’t have been better cared for if it had been your own. Phil, the courier was reliable too. He must have left home at about 5am to get to us so early! Definitely recommend everything about Victorian Brass Beds."
